Captain Morgan Tattoo
Puerto Rican Spiced Rum
35% Alcohol (70 Proof)
Avast, me hearties! Today is a special day: September 19. For those of you who don't know... it's International Talk Like a Pirate Day!!! That's right, TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY!!! Walk the plank, ya' scallywags! Arrr!
Okay, enough of that.
Anyway, I figure what better way to celebrate the occasion than by reviewing some liquor from the most famous drunken pirate rum guzzler around, Captain Morgan! Like I said in my Kraken Black Spiced Rum review, the Captain has always been a good friend to me. Sometimes he did cause me to party a little too hard, but hey, that's life.
Captain Morgan Tattoo is a variation on their standard spiced rum. And by variation I mean, what the hell, Captain?! This stuff is intended as a mixer, sure, but wow. This is syrupy thick, overly sweet, and crazily spiced beyond all belief. It's almost like someone tried to make an alcoholic version of Dr. Pepper when they were drunk. I guess this may go decently with cola, but not that well. On its own had neat or as a shot, it's borderline nasty. No joke. I love regular Captain, but not this stuff. This was probably made by Disney's Jake and the Neverland Pirates, not good ol' Captain Morgan.
Drink This: No. Don't.
Don't Drink This: if you want good spiced rum. Go get some Kraken or standard Captain Morgan, instead, you landlubbers!
To each his own, I love it!

DeleteGot this for my birthday. i agree with the review. It tastes weird.
ReplyDeleteAs someone who cannot stand the original, I actually really like the tattoo. I also just have the opposite taste buds of most people. =/
ReplyDeletetaste best with energy drink much like jager bomb but called ink bombs very delicious
ReplyDeleteYuck! I thought I'd try it as I like spiced rum. I agree with the author. It's way over spiced! Tastes like cherry. Back to my favorite.. Kraken
ReplyDeleteI wish I had read your review before I picked up a bottle of Tattoo. The only decent rum I've had is Sailor Jerry, which I should have picked up instead of Tattoo.
ReplyDeleteBut, I read a review of The Kraken elsewhere and bought a bottle and viola, you also have a review of that.
I'm new to spirits in general but so far, I prefer rum over vodka and I've yet to venture into other spirits. Baby steps since I am mainly a beer a guy with over 2000+ reviews.
It butt-chugs pretty good but don't overdo it.
ReplyDeleteI love this stuff! It's hard to find these days but I lucked out and found some at Winco. I like it with coke and lime and also I use it for baking banana bread. Mmmmm!
ReplyDeleteIt's great mixed with Dr. Pepper
ReplyDeleteGreat review i completely agree. I have a lot of tattoo's, i love tattoo's and this crap is giving them a bad name. I don't see a review for Captain Morgan Black. Would like to see your opinion on it. I personaly am in love with the stuff on the rocks.
ReplyDeleteMix it with Ginger ale, its a great summer drink. Its not a spiced rum its something different, I enjoyed the change.
ReplyDeleteMy absolute favorite!! I can't get enough of it! Coke, mt. Dew and BARQ'S rootbeer are incredible mixers!! Plus the slightly lower alcohol volume helps keep from going overboard on it.. personally i will never spend my money on any other liquor. If i can't find this then its straight back to the old trusted budweiser..
ReplyDeleteAll a matter of taste. Sipping on the rocks very good, but then again I use heavy doses of spices in my cooking.
ReplyDeleteI just have to say your use of a Disney cartoon in a review tickles me to no end. Please continue the good work.
ReplyDeletesuggestion barrets ginger beer and tatoo u'll be hooked 2jiggers of rum 1/2 can barrets over ice rocks my world called dark and stormy
ReplyDeleteI love to take a 3-oz shot and chase with Coke. Love it.
ReplyDeletePut a little in a coffee cup and a swiss miss cocoa pod in a Kuerig.
ReplyDeleteWhat comes out tastes like a chocolate covered cherry.

I have been drinking captain morgans tattoo for over 10 years. For the last 2 years I have struggled finding my favorite drink, I can't find a logical excuse for the distillery to outcast any of their products, buy to do it to my favorite flavor just pissed me off. The distributors in my SE region are f&%#@÷* retards telling every store that the Captain has discontinued the tattoo flavored rum, all the while he has no idea what his kids will be eating for dinner on any giving night...that spellsaid stupid in my book! I've heard from CMD and confirmed it is still being made.
ReplyDeleteTo anyone who doesn't like tattoo, stick to your wine coolers...set sail or stfu..

ReplyDeleteYou will be given aftercare instructions by your tattoo artist. These aftercare instructions differ from artist to artist. My recommendation to you is if in doubt about anything, always go back to your tattoo artist before seeking the help of a doctor. Your tattoo artist can take a look at your tattoo and tell what to do if their is a problem to correct any healing problems. budah

ReplyDeleteYou can knit or crochet with glitter yarn, you can use it with rubber stamping in scrapbooking and card-making, and you can add a little extra glitz to everything in your home with glitter. Everyone likes a little spark pound glitter in bulks
